After fantasying about it for several years, Randy bought a pair of kayaks with our neighbor Charlie to share between us in Spring 2001.
They're Dagger Deltas, a recreational wide bottom (no comments) well suited to the rivers and lakes around here with plenty of room for hauling gear for overnights trips.
Here's a couple pictures of the inaugural run around the Maple Island wildlife refuge on the Mississippi River at Melvin Price Locks and Dam.
Bethany and Maddie also love them! Here they are at Creve Coeur Lake enjoying the fall colors (actually Maddie likes scaring the egrets best).
After years of just eating dinner together, our Sunday Dinner group decided to try a weekend camping trip in the St. Francis Mountains at Onondaga, Elephant Rocks and Taum Sauk Mtn. State Parks on 1-3 June 2001.
